Las declaraciones de Lakhdar Brahimi y John Negroponte sobre el asalto de las tropas de la coalición a la ciudad de Falluja dan una clara visión de las dos formas totalmente opuestas de ver el conflicto.
El enviado de la ONU Brahimi, declara:
“Unless this standoff is brought to a resolution through peaceful means, there is great risk of a very bloody confrontation… the consequences of such bloodshed could be dramatic and long-lasting”.
En cambio el embajador americano de Irak, John Negroponte, dice:
“There’s no place for armed groups of this kind in the future of Iraq and they must be dealt with,” (…) “Sometimes force has to be met by force.”
